While it is often difficult to predict with great certainty where higher edu- cation is headed, in May 2011 the Institute for the Future and the University of Phoenix Research Institute published Future Work Skills 2020 in response to the growing demand for such insights by individuals, educators, business, and the government (University of Phoenix, 2011). It identified several drivers of change with the potential to reshape the future landscape that were considered most important and relevant to acquiring future work skills:
